Why Medicaid Matters

Helping Care for Military Kids

While our armed forces provide excellent health care coverage to service members and their families at home and abroad, many military children rely on Medicaid health coverage. According to Tricare for Kids, an estimated 3.6 million children in military and veteran families depend on Medicaid for health coverage—from healthy kids to children with complex medical conditions. 200,000 children of active service members have health coverage through Medicaid, and 3.4 million children of veterans rely on Medicaid/CHIP to help them reach their full potential.
